If you choose to use PayPal Standard when your users wish to make a purchase, they are temporarily redirected to the PayPal website in order to enter their account or credit card information, and then they are redirected back to your website after the transaction is complete.

Using PayPal Pro (with Payflow), users can enter their credit card information directly on the payment page of your website. So they will not need to leave the website and come back, they stay on your website the entire time. This makes for a slightly smoother experience for users. In addition, PayPal Pro (with Payflow) comes with some more powerful reporting than you get by default with PayPal Standard. (However, we still recommend using the Our School Pages reports for most things.)

Upgrading your PayPal Standard account to PayPal Pro will incur a $30/month fee.  The transaction fees will remain the same (30 cents, plus 2.2%), and the funds will continue to get deposited into the same PayPal account as they always have.

If you have a PayPal Standard account, and you wish to upgrade to PayPal Pro (with Payflow), please follow the instructions below.

• Go to https://www.paypal.com/us/webapps/mpp/referral/paypal-payments-pro?partner_id=2EYFDKR7U7998
• Click the Get Started button.
• If you already have a PayPal Standard account, click Login. If not, click Create New Account.
• Continue the process by filling out the application form. Even if you previously had a PayPal Standard account, you will need to create a new login and password for your new PayPal Manager account. Note that your PayPal Manager account is different than your actual PayPal account. PayPal Manager is a separate web service that allows you to control your payment integration endpoints, payment requirements, and reports.
• The system will ask for a credit card with which you would like to pay the $30 monthly fee. You will need to enter a valid credit card number. However, your credit card should not get charged immediately. Instead, the $30 fee is charged at the end of each month.
• Wait for your application to get approved and for your account to get upgraded to Pro (about 2 days).
• Visit http://manager.paypal.com, and make sure you are able to login with the credentials you specified earlier. When logging in, it’s a little weird …. in the Partner field, type “PayPal”, and leave the User field blank. The other two fields will be your login and password that you created earlier.
• Visit your Our School Pages website, and go to Admin --> Packets --> Online Payment. Choose PayPal Pro with Payflow, and enter your login and password. Pressing Save will verify that your credentials are valid.
• That’s pretty much it! You’re all set, and you should be able to test that everything still works!
